Lethargy – To Train Or Not To Train?

How Do I DietAs per usual, as the winter settles in, a lot of the guys I hear from are telling me the same thing; that with the cold season, their zeal has dropped and their workouts are diminishing. I also am in that category. It's real tough to live in a country where cold weather is prevalent almost half the year! I've always told myself I would one day live in a country where the climate would be more tropical but so far it hasn't transpired. I envy those people who live in paradise all year long! But enough of my whining about the winter. There are certain things that can be done to combat this natural occurrence.
Outside of changing my training when necessary, a couple of tricks I use to take the edge off winter are these items. First off, I bought a hot tub. You know, it's interesting how sitting in 103-degree water makes the snow and cold become so tolerable all of a sudden.
Another trick is to be tanned. While everyone else around seems to be looking pale and white and sickly, it seems that nothing looks as good as a healthy looking tan. Obviously the sun isn't going to do the job and although the medical research won't exactly say that sun tanning beds outright cause skin cancer, it seems the general consensus is that they are bad for you. So what's a guy to do? I ordered an oral tanning product called "Canthaxanthin". The stuff works and best of all, it's non-toxic to the body. So you get to look tanned and don't have to worry about the bad effects of it on your body.
For the training aspect. We all know how hard it is to get into a workout especially when you're not excited about it. Well, I've finally stumbled onto a little key that helps unlock those lethargic training times.
First of all, tell yourself that you are only going to the gym for a half-hour to train. Surely, you can spare a half-hour out of your day, right? Next pick the body part that is your favorite to train. Usually, this is not what you're supposed to do as it takes away from the intensity of what's needed to pick up those lagging body parts but in this case, we're trying to just get into an intensity mode. It doesn't take long to find the workout falling into place and going well once your favorite muscle group starts feeling that pump and burn. The next thing you know, the half-hour is over and you've accomplished the most important thing of the day. Your workout. Most of the day, we give and sacrifice our time and abilities for others whether it be work or play or visiting family/friends but when you're at the gym, that is for you.
Try to make it count as the best it can be.
I hope this helps beat some of those lethargic times that is sure to come along and hit every one of us sometime during the winter months when it is tougher to get motivated.
* Editor's note: If you've ever felt there was something holding you back in life, ruining your plans and stopping you from being who you want to be, you were right. The fact is, there is a single source of all your problems, stress, unhappiness and self-doubt. It's called the reactive mind - the hidden part of your mind that stores all painful experiences, then uses them against you.
Peak Potentials Training offers a course called
Warrior Camp that helps. A warrior is "one who conquers onself". Being by taking the
Millionaire Mind Intensive which will help you get rid of limiting beliefs and then go on to take the Millionaire Mind course.

Warrior Camp

Warrior Camp
I just spent the past two weeks at Wizard Camp and
Warrior Camp. What a transformational experience for the participants. I led one of the events again this year and had 240 people come through my Warrior Camp event.
As for staff and volunteers, again, filled with an abundance of amazing, talented, giving, thoughtful and sexy creatures.

Miss Anonymous and Myself Again
An affirmation I had years ago was to be surrounded by beautiful women and that affirmation has paid off at Warrior Camp this year again.

Coop and Jennie
Jennie is simply the best girl I know. I told her dad, another volunteer that he did such a good job raising her. She is filled with love, laughter and joy. Jennie brightens a room when she walks in and I'm proud to have had her affections for two weeks.
I’m in Los Angeles right now for my yearly Sunrider convention. I just took a taxi to Albertsons and spent $20 on water for the next 5 days. With taxi costs, that comes out to $40 for water for the week. I provided an article about "
Hydrate Before Warrior Camp" for my
Warrior Camp website and I truly want to stress the importance of drinking water.
Bottled drinking water is the best in my opinion.

Why Hydrate

To perform at the peak of your athletic ability, proper hydration is of the utmost importance. During exercise, your heart increases the blood flow to the muscles (in use) and the skin (to cool your body down). Through perspiration, your body loses about 1-litre (32 oz) of water per hour based on moderate activity. If you don’t replace the water you lose, your body starts to become dehydrated. At a higher heart rate and core temperature, your body can’t produce more energy, leaving you weakened and much more vulnerable to heat illness (symptoms such as headaches, nausea and muscle fatigue)
The best defense against dehydration is a good offense – drink often – at least 1 litre (32 oz) per hour for moderate activity in moderate conditions. It’s also better to drink continuously – 6 to 8 oz every 15 to 20 minutes is recommended by the American College of Sports Medicine. Remember that thirst is a delayed response, and by the time you’re thirsty, your body is already dehydrated. Always carry some sort of
bottled drinking water.
For endurance athletes, the USA track and field advisory also suggests adding 700mg of sodium per litre (32 oz) of water. This, or the occasional salty or powerbar-type snack, will help prevent the onset of
hyponatremia, a rare condition that occurs when the level of sodium in your blood gets dangerously low. This condition is rare but can occur after a full day of strenuous activity.
The USATF also suggests using hydration systems to help keep fluids cooler, making it easier for your body to absorb.
Dehydration can set in sooner than you think. You can easily lose 2 litres (64oz) / hour on a hard ride or a run on a hot day, but even recreation outdoors enthusiasts can lose up to 1 to 1.5 litres per hour. In a recent position statement of the National Athletic Trainers Association, as little as a 1 to 2 percent lose of fluids could negatively affect function and performance. A 1 to 2 percent loss of fluids can occur after a little more than one hour of moderate activity in cool weather without water. At 3 percent, the risk of potential heart illness increases exponentially.
Initial Dehydration2% of body weight lost
3 lbs of fluid lost (1.5 litres)
Happens in about 1 hour
Decreased athletic performance, decreased muscular endurance
Heat Cramps4-6% of body weight lost
6-9 pounds of fluid lost
Happens in about 2 to 3 hours
Muscle cramps, loss of strength, fatigue
Heat Exhaustion6 to 8% of body weight lost
9 to 12 pounds of fluid lost
Happens in about 3 to 4 hours
Dizziness, serious fatigue, nausea, high temperature
Heat Stroke7 to 8 % of body weight lost
11 – 12 pounds plus fluid lost
Happens in 4+ hours
Confusion, loss of consciousness
Rob's note: This article came to be because of a percieved need to make new participants of
Warrior Camp aware of the need to be hydrated before attending camp.

Mind of Steel Heart of Gold Summer Birthday

Mind of Steel, Heart of Gold
Summer Birthday
Facilitating at the
Mind of Steel Heart of Gold course put on by Peak Potentials over the past two weeks in British Columbia Canada, I celebrated my half birthday with friends. On June 25th, I turned 38.5 years old and because I choose to spend my birthday where it's warm and with friends, I chose to celebrate it in a place of peace, serenity and empowerment.
Mind of Steel, Heart of Gold is Peak Potentials best course combining the elements of
Enlightened Warrior and Wizard Training, also
Peak Potentials courses. This is not to say that Warrior and Wizard are not life changing and transformational, but rather than Mind of Steel, Heart of Gold brings together the elements of both into a place where the student can practice the dance between the two energies. It is available only to graduates of Warrior and Wizard Training camps.
"How to Access Your True Power
and Succeed in Spite of Anything"
And
"The Science of
Manifesting What You Want"
"We must practice living as Wizards, but be prepared in an instant to become the Enlightened Warrior as circumstance demands." This is the promise of Mind of Steel, Heart of Gold.
There is a recipe for happiness and success. When you live in the Wizard and utilize the Warrior, success and happiness are natural and automatic. The Warrior succeeds in spite of anything. The Wizard is calm, centered and peaceful in spite of anything.
The Wizard and the Warrior archetypes come together in this camp in a synthesis designed to teach Graduates of the previous two camps how to instantly summon either "energy" as it is needed.
Mind of Steel, Heart of Gold is the dance between the Warrior and the Wizard and you will practice becoming a master at both.
This distinctive camp is a one-of-a-kind program and is not offered anywhere else in the world. You will have the privilege of being a part of an intimate group of outstanding participants.
One participant sent me feedback about his week and his experience at the Mind of Steel Heart of Gold course
"Dear Rob,
Thank you for your empowerment and your energy during the last week! I had an amazing time and I am glad that I got the opportunity to discuss what was precious and dear to me. I am equally excited that your words about Scott's book and publishing process touched something in me that I had not felt for a while. I had for too long not been looking at the larger picture."
Ryan
A friend and co-worker, pictured bottom left had this to say about the course when he took it himself the first year
Mind of Steel, Heart of Gold was offered.
"Warrior / Wizard started me on an incredible journey in my life. Mind of Steel brought me to my destination. Now I know I am where I should be in life - unstoppable, confident and clear. I'm on the top of a mountain now."
Richard Lauder
I am truely thankful for sharing my summer birthday in such a place of beauty, among friends and being a part of changing lives and empowering people.
