Banned PETA Superbowl Ad
This Super Bowl ad was banned for a number of reasons, but first lets have a look at it:NBC nixed the ad, saying it "depicts a level of sexuality exceeding our standards." Below is a list of shots NBC requested PETA cut before they’d reconsider:
- licking pumpkin
- touching her breast with her hand while eating broccoli
- pumpkin from behind between legs
- rubbing pelvic region with pumpkin
- screwing herself with broccoli (fuzzy)
- asparagus on her lap appearing as if it is ready to be inserted into vagina
- licking eggplant
- rubbing asparagus on breast
Interesting.
and yes, she VERY CLEARLY is touching her breast while also holding onto broccoli

I love these peta ads. This is an organization that pulls no punches. And you know that sex and sexy images certainly does get people's attention. What they are doing is creating associations between beautiful bodies and healthy eating in an extremely overt way.
Now if you compare this to the meat industry which shows healthy images juxtaposed with their images of animal based foods you will see that their approach is the same. Creating positive associations with their product. Peta probably doesn't have the resources to have an ongoing campaign so they need to hit viewers over the head and make them pay attention, which is what they tried to do. Unfortunately they didn't get the opportunity to show this at the super bowl.
This actually might have been the plan all along. The controversy became free publicity without having to spend the money on the actual ad.
Yep, that's my take too, and I'll do everything I can in my power to make it all public as well.
Hi there, just found your blog and the articles are very interesting, I love your views on artificial sweeteners & all that kind of garbage... I'm not a body-builder but am interested in health & nutrition, having been one sickly kid in the past.
Looking forward to reading more, many thanks!
