Olympic Torch on Mt Everest Summit

The Olympic torch made it to the top of Mt Everest on Thursday May 8. A Tibetan woman took the torch the last few steps to the summit shouting "Long live Tibet" along with the other climbers says this story in Routers.

You are going to do what...? Climb the Mt. Everest?? Are you joking?

I'm not joking, but it's Mt Everest base camp that I'm climbing to, not the summit.

Everest summit is a bit more of a challenge and commitment.

Ah yes. My bad!

Sounds like a big challenge anyway though!

Good luck with that :)

Best wishes on your base camp trek. My nephew, Joe Birdsong, had this to say about his trek to the Everest Base Camp.

It's goals like this that make losing weight and keeping it off fun. How many overweight guys do you know who are planning to hike up the side of a mountain to 18,000 ft.? And that isn't even the summit!

Depending upon where you're at with your own weight loss goals there are many that will be just as significant as Everest Base Camp.

I know some who are making a huge accomplishment when they walk around the block three times a week. Even a small goal like this will lead to bigger accomplishment, and more confidence.

Enjoy Nepal, and Break the Rock!
