4 Things You Didn't Know About Me
#1 I had an internet radio show that ran for a quarter year, so 3 and a half months. Did twelve interviews in total, but got quite ill in the middle and spent 5 days in the hospital with a clot in my lung... which brings me to point #2 (see below). Each interview got better and better as I learned from my mistakes from the previous weeks show. My goal was to get sponsored which would then create an income and allow me to do more interviews. I had paid $5000 out of my own pocket for doing the show. The producer that worked with me was great and I really appreciated her help.

I had contacted Subway about sponsoring me and they were thrilled at the idea. They would have done it, but had no way to pay me due to how they collected advertising dollars from their franchise owners. They agreed with my message and my story, but had no way to support me.
The people I interviewed were:
Bill Pearl - 5 time Mr Universe and still trains 5 days a week in his 70's
T Harv Eker - Peak Potentials Founder and my mentor. I worked with Harv as his Trainer Assistant a number of times and with the Core Team, traveling with Peak Potentials events for 2 years. Before that, I had volunteered each summer working Warrior Camps and Wizard Camps
Randy Fritz - Ayurvedic Medicine and Healing With Whole Foods
Shawn Phillips - Brother of Bill Phillips (body for life) and author of Absolution
Monica Brant - Fitness Model and competitor.
Clarence Bass - Mr Ripped - Muscle and Fitness columnist and author
Cory Holly - Canada's Ambassador or Sports Nutrition, Health and Fitness and columnist in Canadian natural health magazine "Alive". I was vegetarian for 12 years (that part I'm sure you know), and it was Cory's column that made me realize that Creatine is perfectly safe and can only help improve health and performance. I began using Creatine over 15 years ago and have never looked back.
Udo Erasmus - the leading speaker on Good Fats and Bad Fats and creator of Udo's Oil
Brad King - Author of Fat Wars and columnist for Alive magazine. He took over from where Cory Holly began, writing the fat loss, fitness column in Alive.
Leonard Eaglecloud Howell - Metis Wisdom keeper & ceremonial pipe carrier. Leonard is a facilitator of wholeness and it is his passion to awaken spiritual well being through song and Native wisdom. Leonard is a Metis singer songwriter, actor, storyteller and my very good friend.
Peter Siegel - The country's foremost sports and peak performance hypnotherapist, and for 28 years, has personally worked with world-class and professional athletes (NFL, NHL, MLS, NBA, MLB, PGA, LPGA, Olympics), entertainment celebrities and powerhouses in business, helping them elevate their performance impact, so they clearly register all time personal bests. Powerful man, powerful message
I also interviewed Harvey Diamond, author of Fit for life and Tom Venuto, author of Burn the fat, Feed the muscle.
I made the 5 most requested interviews available for download as part of my fat loss insider secrets product. Bill Pearl, Monica Brant, Tom Venuto, Shawn Phillips and Clarence Bass interviews are available for only $47.
Who I wanted to and still want to interview:
Cheri Hubor - Zen Monk
John Robbins - Author of May All Be Fed and promoter of vegetarianism. I had him booked, but he called me and had to cancel at the very last minute.
Sean Connery - Would love to interview him about his bodybuilding days and being on stage at the Mr Universe contest in the 50's.
Joe Vitale - author of many books including The Attractor Factor and all round great guy. The Attractor Factor is the book sitting next to me right now.
I'm toying with the idea of doing a podcast. I'm pretty close to actually committing. The plan is to release it on Monday mornings on my new Weight Loss Blog, the Former Fat Guy Blog | Weight Loss and Fitness Community. I'm thinking something along the line of 5 to 10 minutes, with the odd longer one with an interview spliced in. I would consider sponsors, so if you're interested in sponsoring me, email me.
#2 Spent 5 days in the hospital in 2003 with a clot in my lung. This was only after spending 10 days or more in serious pain saying to myself
"I'll be better by Tuesday, I'll be better by Thursday, I'll be better by Tuesday"I kept saying this because I was teaching Web Development at NAIT here in Edmonton and had classes on Tue and Thursday. At no time did I think anything serious was going on and fully expected to be better in two more days. Finally I drove myself to the hospital and they kept me. I was out of the gym for a total of a month, then got back at it, very lightly (because I was still having a hard time breathing), but I did get back to work. Exercise increases Human Growth Hormone, which then helps with the recovery, repair and healing process. Not being able to breath too well was not going to stop me from training. It just slowed me down a bit.
After missing one of my radio shows where I had to cancel Cheri Hubor, I am clearly having a hard time breathing, so I just asked questions and had the guest answer.
[update:] I guess it would have been a good idea to explain HOW I got the clot. I entered my name into a draw for a free membership at a fitness club. I didn't win, but the marketing department gave me a free week trial. I did it, just to see what the club had to offer. I was using a laying hamstring curl that uses plates for weights. I had never used it before, and it was cool, so I was going hard. Turns out I injured my calf muscle. It was really sore and felt like I tore it a bit. I had a massage therapist friend working on it and that hurt too. I believe that he (but I'm not blaming) let loose a little piece of something into my circulatory system which then made it to my lung and bammo. It was a week after the injury and a few days after the massage therapist that this all happened. During the whole process, my calf swelled up to twice it's size and THAT was why I went to the doctor. I couldn't pee standing on one leg anymore. I know.. that's the guy in me. It wasn't the lung pain, or the fact I could barely breathe, it was because I couldn't pee one one leg. Insert jokes into the comments if you must, lol.
#3 I would do pretty much anything for my cats. Most of my life revolves around them. When I travel, for how long, etc all has to do with them. I love them a lot. They're my girls!
#4 I've used a psychic and it changed my life. I found Kandace quite by intention. I NEVER had read a bulletin on myspace, but one caught my attention, and I acted. I called her free conference call one Thursday night and from what I had learned and heard, I booked an appointment for a talk the next day.
From the call we had the next day, I acted on something else which then lead me to the new woman in my life. I got clarity on why my cat was pooping in the bathtub and changed the cat litter brand. Turns out she didn't like the "type" of litter I was using, so I changed it and she has not pooped in the tub since. Found out that my dad's spirit is here in my home with me, met my two guides and found out why I was suddenly angry for a few days in a row. Really angry.. and that's not like me. I consider her a friend and I want to tell you about her.

I for one am glad you called Candace! ;-)
