100 Pound Weight Loss Story

I'd like to introduce you to Lucie. She's from Quebec and joined my weight loss forum June 1st of 2007. Lucie's starting weight was 451 pounds which she weighed in February of 2007 (6 months ago).
Lucie was very excited to announce to the forum that she's completed her first 100 pound weight loss and is heading onto the next 100 pounds! Congratulations Lucie.
Let me restate that: Lucie has lost 100 pounds in less than 6 months.
Lucie said that it was her removing dairy from her diet and the addition of 4 hours of swimming to her weekly workouts that pushed her past the 100 pound goal. There are VERY few people in this world that can say they completed the "First 100 Pound Weight Loss Goal" and are working on the second. Very few. Welcome the the club Lucie and well done!
Lucie is following a program outlined by medical doctors and checks in with them regularly. She's got her eye on a huge set of stairs that she wants to climb but is waiting for approval from her team of doctors. You can read Lucie's weight loss story in the forum.

100 Pound Weight Loss
Lucie is not starving herself.. quite the contrary.. she says it's difficult at times to eat as much as they say and that she's stuffed a lot. She's also exercising every day and at 350+ pounds has begun BOXING! Yes, she's begun boxing. Geesh. See.. this is where she has inspired me. I began walking at 385 and she's Boxing! I guess if she can do it, I can do it too.. so I'm looking into some morning boxing classes for myself
I asked Lucie to share what it feels like to lose 100 pounds and this was her answer:
"- Curiously, in the mirror, it doesn’t look like 100 pounds; it is a bit deceiving if you stick to the "image", but once you go to the "health" it is another story :
- I feel sexy
- I feel confident
- I have an amazing amount of energy
- I feel very proud
- I feel lighter and smaller (in my mind)
- I feel more "credible", I mean: I feel like if people would trust my judgment more if I’m not so so much overweight…hard to express. I guess you must "feel" it to understand.
- I feel more "authorized" to be in places such grocery store, soccer field, walking ring, hiking trails...
- I sleep so very much better. & hours a night in a row !
- I feel more "willing": if I walk on a hiking trail, I will allow me to trust myself when it comes to jump a little leap, or "run a bit in order to cross a rougher path", see? More "willing".
- I DO not feel like I am the only person people will look at.
- I DO not feel like a monstrosity anymore
- I AM able to lace my shoes
- I AM able to have a good personal hygiene ANYTIME ( I know, I know, this one is awful but this is an important problem with being obese)
- I can actually "CHOOSE" my clothes, not only take the 6x in aqua or purple. (I dropped from 6x to 3x…Mucho more choice in 3x!!!!)
- I wear NO MORE ample clothing, I love stretched shirts and straight skirts.
- I AM ABLE to run upstairs if I forgot something without having to pause to breathe
- I GO MYSELF in the basement to pick milk or orange juice in the reserve fridge
- I park where I find a parking space
- I DO NOT go to three Mc Donalds on my way back home anymore
- I feel IN CONTROL of my life, according to MY own choices
- I feel GREAT
- I feel GREAT
- I feel GREAT !!!!!"
Lucie is French Canadian and I'm sure she'd appreciate me saying that English is a second language... so look past the grammatical and into the feelings she's sharing.. the message.
I'd like to ask you the question... when is the right time for weight loss?
I am inspired every single day with the people who are joining the forum. It's being described as a very safe place to share, to get support and offer support.
I'm glad. That was the intention.
