Running Along the Sea In Vancouver - I Can Do Cardio When On Holidays

I got my morning off to an amazing start with a long run along the south shore of English Bay from the Kitsilano pool all the way down to Jericho Beach (Vancouver Yacht Club). There’s a little park right next to the Yacht club with some jungle gym equipment so I did some of my boot camp drills there.

Boot camp drills included three different planes of pushups (incline on a bench, then flat, then decline with my feet up on the bench), each with a short jog to the shore and back between sets.

Then I did some pull-ups on the kids gym, then ran back to Kits pool where I ran four or five sets of stairs there.

Then a run / sprint up the hill to 4th ave.

This was a major run for me today. First, just the motivation to go do something in a new city is a major stumbling block for me, so the fact that I went out to do it was very good for me. Secondly, it was the first run in a long time.. I believe it’s my third or fourth run since coming back from holidays. I’ve been running something like once a week only, so just to do it was good, along with doing it in a strange city and then doing such a long run on top of all that. My thinking going into it was just that I saw a landmark down the road a bit and wanted to go for it and see how long it took to get there. Turns out it was the Yacht club and turns out it was a long ways away.

Result: good cardio, but I did something major to my neck. Ended up with a major kink in it and not being able to turn my head right now. I have some Reiki and a massage planned for Wednesday afternoon on my off day, so hope that will help.

Also, I got some good motivation out of it. Just that I know that I can travel and stay with my exercise routine. So far at least cardio, but that’s a good win for me and I’ll take it.

No other training today. Just morning cardio.
