I have a personal goal of being able to do 100 pushups in a row (consecutive), without stopping.

When I first began doing pushups years ago, I could do 3.

This year, I set the intention to do more bodyweight exercises like pushups, pullups, chinups, squats, handstand pushups etc, so began doing pushups.

I started training by setting the goal of doing 100 pushups in a day, 3 times a week.  It didn't matter how many sets it took me to get to 100 pushups, as long as I did 100 in a given day.

I would do a set, then while my chest was resting, I would do ab roll outs with the ab wheel.  This way I was working chest and core / arms / back all in the same workout.

Eventually I got to my max consecutive reps of 60 (while doing a cleanse none the less).

My goal is to be able to do 100 in a row and I'm shooting for Dec 31, 2008 or earlier as the date I reach it (or beat it).

Care to join me?  Add your name and goal to this topic and what sort of training you're doing to reach your goal.

state your starting maximum pushup number too so we know where you're starting from.

… and lets get to that magic number as soon as possible, while building strong arms and chest at the same time.

I haven't been able to get past 60 Norm.  I'm working on type 1 instead of type 2 muscle fibers. Have been for the past 6 months now.

Type 1 is strength / power while type 2 is endurance.  They use different energy systems.  Both have to be worked in order to build the largest muscle.
