Ever consider that they feed grain to cattle or other livestock to fatten them up and make them heavier for market?
Ever consider that a good portion of bowel issues / disease are somehow related to grains (or dairy) in some format?
Ever consider that we're surrounded by grain at many meals? bread, rice, pasta, wraps etc?
Have you considered how fast grains are broken down in your stomach and converted to sugar? Sugar that then affects insulin, mood, cravings?
Do you realize that, relatively speaking, grain farming and grain consumption only came into the human diet a very short time ago – only 10,000 years ago?
So what if you were to try a little experiment and see what sort of results you might get if you stopped eating grain for a short period of time? lets say a day, or a week, or even a month? think you could do it? What if it had enough of an impact on your health and how you felt that you soon realized that you might have a grain alergy or that low and behold, you dropped a few pounds and stopped craving some things?
Would you be willing to go a week without grain, to plan your meals so that you incorporated more vegetables to make up for it?
What might you learn from the experience? How would you approach it? Would you realize that you ate a lot more grain in a day than you actually thought?
Could you replace the grain with vegetables is another question? How would you eat them? raw? steamed?
What sort of vegetables would you choose? Dark leafy greens? or cruciferous? or even another starch like yams or sweet potato's?
This is the “give up grains for a week” challenge.
Take on the challenge. Check in with yourself, your weight, your energy levels (on a scale of 1 to 10) and plan out a week of grain free meals. Talk about it here
