As someone who has done over 40 24hr fasts i can say this, THE 1ST IS THE HARDEST!!!!!!!!!!!.

Why is this??????, well lets look at it…..

1, you may have never had 24hrs without food ever, unless ill

2, everyone from loved ones to co workers will say your mad to do it

3, your own mind will say it cant be done

lets take ourselves back to caveman days, did they pop to mcdonalds before 10.30 am to have a mcsausage and egg, hell no infact somedays he didnt eat at all, ahhhh so he fasted, well no he just didnt catch food that day, yet his body adapted to this, we are still that caveman, we just got lazy……………..

so my 1st fast 5 months ago,

1, i ate my tea thinking this is it for 24hrs gulp

2, i thought i will faint before 24hrs is up (in my head)

3, i noticed how many ads are on tv for food lol

now the first 3 hours for me was the worst, all the adds for food, the thought of not eating for 24hrs was like gulp……. but really once you forget about eating its easy, and once you have done one you do another then you see the results and do more and more.

Never have i felt ill or tired, and have trained just the same, infact i live for fasts now

thanks for reading

Yes, you certainly DO see more ads for food on TV.

I agree that the biggest issue with your first or second day without food is mostly mental.  We have been led to think that we need food to survive, but that couldn't be further from the truth.

Getting past the mental part involves finding something else to do while understanding that when we go without food, our brain behaves differently.  It has less immediate access to fuel and hasn't learned to tap into fat for energy just yet.

That training process involves removing sugar from the diet and switching from sugar burner to fat burner.

Mood is often affected during times of fasting.  I've been know to bite people's heads off, but I know why that's happeneing and have learned to to just walk away.

Part of what helps get me through a fasting day is to step outside my body as it were and become the observer.  To see what sort of effect a day without food has on emotoins, energy levels, thought processes and simply observe them without judging them or taking action on them.

It's actually kinda fun once you begin to look at it in a different way.

I like the idea of becoming the observer when you fast. I've done that for other processes outside of my comfort zone and the detachment definitely makes things easier. Always.

hey guys :)

Yeah i like that way of thinking too “out of body” :)

i think for me it made me focus more, i must admit i have not done one for a few weeks as have had the dreaded swine flu as has my rebecca, its awful let me tell you !!!!

also i would like to say that when doing a fast you know every kcal used is a kcal off your fat, as your not putting any in, further more you dont go and pig out on a burger because…. a, you have pride in yourself for doing the fast and b, you realize that that big tasty fat burger in dressing is just that a big FAT burger………:)

I long for the day i can sit down to a burger and 4 beers and pat my six pack, still as thats at least 7 stone off thats as near as i can get to that idea for a while, but am happy :)

sorry for being off piste for a while, will be on here more now

lee :)
