Mind-Body ConnectionMy food combining mentor started telling me about a meditation technique that he used. It was called the Silva Mind Control Method. I bought the book by the same name and read it cover to cover. To be honest, I got nothing out of it except that it started me on the road to understanding the mind – body connection. I really did give it a go though. I was to go to my “special place” and I was to find my “teacher” and we were to do wonderful things together. None of this happened. I did spend a lot of time laying on the floor relaxing though and going through the process of visualizing “my special place”. Other books I read were about the body and how it works. How digestion works, how our body incorporates food for energy and tissue regeneration. Other books were “Creative Visualization: Use the Power of Your Imagination to Create What You Want in Your Life” by Shakti Gawain and “The Magic of Believing” by Claude Bristol over 50 yeras ago. I learned that by visualizing doing things, I could train the mind to believe something had already been done or capture the end product visually thus convincing the mind it was reality. “What the mind knows to be true becomes true.” “Visualize and become”. “Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right!”. A lot of the personal development courses I now take as part of my ongoing training are by T. Harv Eker and he teaches the same thing. The difference is, instead of learning it from a book, we're actually living it and practicing it for four days or more. One of the best steps I've ever taken in my own personal development is the T.Harv Eker courses I visualized my body digesting food and using that food to create the healthy body I wanted. I found that the more I leaned about how the body worked, the more I could make better food decisions. To this day, I still use visualization to speed the healing of my martial arts injuries and the building of muscle after my workouts. I soon stumbled upon a book called “Unlimited Power : The New Science Of Personal Achievement” by Anthony Robbins . You know him as the “Motivator to the stars”. Tony Robbins has worked with Tiger Woods, many Fortune 500 companies and even President Clinton. His book teaches self-motivation and being able to change habits and create new ones. I would advise anyone to read any and all of the books mentioned. Anthony Robbins teaches a principal called Constant and Never-Ending Improvement (CANI). I believe that anyone would benefit from learning anything new about themselves, their bodies and being able to use your mind to create the reality you desire. Anthony also practices Natural Hygeine (food combining) as do the Diamonds. As for my food combining mentor? Ten years later he's still driving cab and smoking dope. He wouldn't argue that he has truely created the life he wants. |
