I found that by starting Tae-Bo a few months back, that I really was able to do some Martial arts. I had always been worried about my knees after carrying all that weight. I started Taekwondo at the beginning of May and was tested today, 29 May, for my yellow stripe. I had to show my knowledge of basic self-defense techniques, my first poomse, or series of defending and attacking movements performed against an imaginary opponent, and I had to break a board using a front snap kick. I think it all went well, but I won't know for a few days. So far, I really like Taekwondo. For any of you in the Edmonton area, I go to Edmonton Taekwondo College, operated by Master Hong Park. For anyone interested in my cats, Pumpkin and Boo, I have added a cat page for some pics I have of them. Oh, indecently, white belt level represents innocence and there are five colored belts, white yellow green blue red before the black belt. ....And, the 1999 World Taekwondo Championships are here in Edmonton, Alberta June 2 - 6 1999! Cool! Update: July 02, I was presented today with my Yellow Belt after my testing Last Saturday. I was required to do a jumping front snap kick to break a board (1.5 feet about my head) and a fore fist punch to break a single board along with a demonstration of my knowledge of my poomse and my defensive techniques.
